Co-writing across Generations
Based on the Podcast Episode: “The Chaos and Order of Nature and Finding Connection across Generations” – Episode 55, The Magic of Songwriting with Francesca de Valence
We finish our journey into the woods for our Songwriting Retreat 2024 and take you behind the scenes to give you a glimpse of co-writing in real-time. Thank you to our songwriters Maddison Kate and Amanda Thomas for sharing a brand new created work on this podcast. We explore the chaos and order of nature, overcoming imposter syndrome, and how co-writing across generations can highlight our universal connection.
Listen to the podcast audio to experience a new creation by Maddison and Amanda, or read on to learn more about what we did on Day 4 and some final thoughts from the retreat.
Day Four:
Morning Magic
On the final morning of our Songwriting Retreat, co-founder of Wild Mountains takes us into the forest one last time for us to discover how nature has changed over the past 4 days. A reminder that everything is changing and nothing is every constant. We make a commitment with ourselves to continue our connection with nature each week for the next month.
Co-writing Across Generations
One of the most incredible elements of the retreat was seeing people across generations – from 20 years old, 40 years old, 60 years old – write together and connect. Finding commonalities across generations isn’t always so simple in life, but when you write songs and tell stories, finding common ground is natural.
Our 20 year old participant, Maddison, shared “Every moment of this retreat was a gift. I felt so at home with myself and my creativity. Absolute magic!”
Of a different generation, Kerrie said, “I Heart Songwriting Club has changed my life. To attend this retreat has given me so much – confidence, wonderful new relationships, new approaches to songwriting, co-writing confidence and so much more.”
On the final day of the retreat, the entire retreat cohort chose to join an I Heart Songwriting Club group together to continue building their connection with each whilst writing songs next to one another. To this day, they still write together and stay in touch.
Will you join us for our next retreat?
Join us for our next Songwriting Retreat from July 19-22, 2025. We look forward to supporting you to grow as a songwriter.
