Josh Crawford

We first met Josh Crawford whilst running a songwriting workshop at his school. We were impressed by his tenacity and drive to pursue his creative dreams. Already playing drums, piano and guitar, Josh had played around with writing songs, but had a lot of partially finished ideas only.

At 15, Josh joined the Songwriting Course for Kids where he wrote 10 finished songs in 10 weeks. Afterwards he joined The Club then went on to achieve great success including winning Battle of the Bands with his own songs.

With over 40 finished songs and with the feedback from the Course and the Club, Josh knew he wanted more for his songs. He joined Level Up Club to receive 12 months of career mentorship from founder Francesca de Valence around recording and independently releasing his debut single “Cry”, all whilst in Year 11!

“Cry” was written in Week 5 of the 10 week Songwriting Course where Josh received mentorship from Aussie songwriter, Sam Buckingham. Josh says “Contrary to its happy and peaceful tone, the song is about struggling with change and the emotions associated with it.”

We invited Josh to perform his song on ABC Radio, and he went on to receive a grant from Arts Queensland and the Moreton Bay Regional Council to record “Cry” at Ian Haug’s (Powderfinger) Airlock Studios.

Never Ever”, was Josh’s follow up single released in 2021 written, performed, mixed, and produced entirely by Josh at just 15 years old! Soon to graduate from high school, Josh plays regular live gigs around his hometown of Brisbane both as a solo artist and with his band Mainstream Radio. He has been acknowledged in many songwriting competitions, continues his professional development journey.

I Heart Songwriting Club is a global community of passionate songwriters who love to help and inspire people to become great songwriters!

“Level Up Club has really helped me get to this point in my career. Not only that, but has helped me gain a grasp of who I am as an artist. The one-on-one sessions have developed plans for me in order to get the most out of my artistry, from releasing music to practicing instruments. The club has also inspired me to work harder at the necessary business side of the music industry.”
